About the DC Black Film Festival
The DC Black Film Festival (DCBFF) is dedicated to showcasing quality film, webseries and television content by and/or about people of African descent. We support emerging artists striving to add diversity to the images and storytellers working in the entertainment industry. The DCBFF is committed to playing an integral role in discovering, celebrating and helping films and filmmakers by bringing them to the attention of the industry, media and public.
Awards & Prizes
Jury Awards are given in the following categories:
Best Web Series
Best Student Film
Best Music Video
Best DC Film- Given to film in which DC is a prominent setting or focus of the story.
Audience: Audience Choice- Given to film with highest audience rating. Can be any length/type/genre.
Rules & Terms
All films submitted must have one or all of the above-the-line crew members (writer, director, producer or actors) be of African descent. Must be a BTFC member to use the exclusive BTFC discount code.
The Black TV & Film Collective a 501c3 organization that operates as a NYC film collective. In our work, we support all artists of color including but not limited to black filmmakers. We are a collaborative platform that represents diversity in film and supports inclusion in Hollywood and TV. Our professional network of New York City filmmakers gives knowledge to those who want to learn how to produce film, how to make a web series, how to budget film projects and more. We host NYC film workshops that welcome a variety of experience levels from first time filmmakers who are either students in film school or to notables within the television and film industry.
