Is the collective a 501c3?
Yes, the Black TV & Film Collective is a 501c3. We have been since 2017.
Do I have to be a member to attend events?
Yes and No. You have to be a member to attend most events. Exceptions include Work Dates and the Meet & Greet / Mixers.
What events are held each month by BTFC?
Every month, the BTFC holds several events, included are, Producing Learning Sessions, BTFC Office Hours during which you can get help with your project, the Writer’s Room, and the New Member Mix & Mingle. In addition, BTFC offers special on-going series like the Speaker Series and value packed and competitively priced workshops.
How often can I attend events?
Members can attend as many events as they like. General body members, are still asked to contribute $10 per meeting. The general body membership really was designed for members who may have a singular interest or little time, making it likely he/she will come on average to one meeting per month. If you feel you will attend more, it is recommended that you upgrade to an Advanced Support Membership, which will save you money because there are no associated fees with meetings.
What discount amount are Advanced Support Members allotted per workshop?
Advanced Support Members receive a 20% discount on all workshops provided they have been an Advanced Support Member for at least 30 days prior.
I’m a premium member but haven’t been able to attend any workshops or classes.
There are other resources that are available: the Producing Circle, Script Consultation, Project Reviews and more, which can also be done via Skype.
Every member is responsible for his or her own involvement and engagement.
I want to set up a membership for someone as a gift. How can I do that?
If you have a friend or relative who can benefit from a BTFC membership, a BTFC gift membership is a great way to help those you care for expand their engagement in their craft. Just make the payment in your name, and the membership in the name of the person you are paying for.
Can I change my membership from General Member to Advanced Support Member?
Yes. Go into “My Account” and click on “Upgrade Membership.”
Membership changes take place at the end of the monthly period and go into effect on the first day of the next month.
I need to cancel my membership. How can I put a stop to future auto-renewals?
Sure, just click cancel in your Account page.
